Start the summer strong with me on May 19th!

May 4, 2026

Happy May!

You may know that I'm in Florida, where it's felt like summer for months. But according to most academic calendars, that precious season of freedom is just around the corner.

Unfortunately, for many of us this "freedom" comes with a to-do list long enough to wallpaper our office. And did I mention that we fully expect to check everything off the list by September, while simultaneously relaxing by the pool every day? (Or is that just me?)

Luckily, if we take a little time to get clear about what we want and need, we can experience the spacious summer we long for without throwing in the (beach) towel on our personal and professional goals.

I hope you'll join me at 12 pm ET on Tuesday, May 19th for a free, interactive workshop dedicated to setting ourselves up for success amid the summer's often competing hopes and demands. By getting grounded now, we'll move through the summer with greater ease while focusing on the things that matter most. If you can't make it live, register and we'll send you the recording to watch at your convenience.

Finally, don't forget that through May 15th, I’ll be donating $10 to Badger Prairie Needs Network for every copy of Well on Your Way and Well in the Lead sold. If either book has been on your list (for yourself or as a gift for colleagues or friends), you've got 10 more days to feel extra-good about the purchase! ☺️ Please spread the word.

As always, thanks for being here, and thanks for being you!

Can't wait to see you on the 19th,
Elizabeth

Have you had a chance to check out the meditative contemplations my good friend and colleague (and mindfulness teacher extraordinaire) Victoria Fontana and I created for academics? If so, we'd love your feedback! And if not, why not give one a try? I suspect you'll find that taking a few minutes to slow down has big positive payoffs both now and down the road.

You may know that I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on how, for some of us, the academic environment is not merely challenging, but traumatizing. Exploring Pathways to Peace is a narrated slideshow that reviews common sources of trauma in academia (Preview: it’s not only catastrophic events), describes some of the symptoms, and offers tools for healing. I hope the presentation provides a path forward, whether you’ve experienced academic trauma yourself or you’re seeking to help others.

Whether you’re feeling empowered and energized or overwhelmed and exhausted, Resourced & Ready: The Ultimate R&R provides keys to finding balance and building resilience. I hope you’ll return to it often as you continue to navigate this uncertain terrain.

And if you missed my Resourced & Ready newsletter series, check out the messages from June through December 2025 to explore additional ways to try out each key!
